Is God Real to You?
For the invisible things of Him
from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things
that are made, [even] His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without
excuse: Rom. 1:20
Through faith we understand that the worlds were
framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of
things which do appear. Heb. 11:3
I live in a real world consisting of
matter made up of various combinations of atoms and molecules. Regardless if
matter is a piece of steel, a rock, or a tree, I can see it. It is real. There
are some that would dare say it is not real but I guarantee you if I hit them
upside the head with a rock their response would not match their deluded
declaration.
This is a real world, and whether we
are atheists or believers, both have to believe in the eternality of something,
whether it be matter, energy, nothing, or God. We understand the things we see
with our eyes are a result of some kind of process that sprang forth from
forever. It matters not what you believe religiously or non-religiously, the
fact remains there will forever be a forever of something, even if that
something is nothing.
Since
something or nothing has always existed, and since what we see has sprung forth
from some kind of ageless process, then it makes sense to me that it calls for
less faith and is superior logic to believe that life, personality, and
intelligence came from life, personality, and intelligence. In my opinion, it
takes far more faith and inferior logic to believe life came from non-life;
personality came from non-personality, and intelligence came from non-intelligence.
Regardless of our beliefs or logic, whether we are an atheist or a Christian,
both have to place faith in what neither has ever seen in order to explain what
is seen.
Something
has existed forever with no beginning or end, and I believe that something is a
someone, namely God. As creator, God is the ultimate reality because the unseen
is responsible for the seen. As the ultimate reality He should also be our
ultimate pursuit. He promised that whoever would seek Him with their whole
heart would find Him.
God has
revealed Himself through creation, conscience, revelation through the
Scriptures, and personal manifestations. He has spoken to us in these last days
through His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. God has declared His existence, His
ways, and His salvation to mankind. Be wise and turn to Him through His Son.
Remember, In God we live, we move, and have our being.
I
believe God is trying to let us know that genuine faith is not hoping
that something might be, or that an event might take place, but rather a
transcendence of awareness that what we can’t see is more real than what we can
see. This perception takes our eyes off the finite things of this world, and
places them on the eternal, invisible, and ultimate reality, which is God
himself. Be wise and invest in life with eternity in view. (Please read Romans
1:18-32).
